#30DaysWild - Week 4
Day 22 - Gully gosh what a nest!
The final week of #30DaysWild! How exciting. It started with the discovery of these 3 beautiful Herring Gull chicks, living on some rather strange looking sculptures! It’s not a bad spot to be honest - these are stood in the middle of a pond, surrounded by a busy main road!
Safe to say it makes for some interesting photo opportunities. I had a wonderful time taking these!
Day 23 - A Day Off
Considering how mad a month it’s been, I think I’ve done quite well to only miss a couple of days.
Day 24 - Orchids and Aphids
Last week I caught the end of TV show that just happened to show an area close to where I live, that has Pyramidal Orchids! So today I headed up to the area and got some shots of these absolutely stunning flowers!
Also of note, a huge number of ladybirds!
Day 25 - Woodland Walk
There wasn’t much I could do today, so a trip to the woods was slotted in. I sat for quite a while under the trees.
Day 26 - Wild Reading
The sun disappeared today! I felt a bit gloomy, so took myself out for a bit of fresh air. This and reading one of my favourite books - A field guide to getting lost - did the trick.
Day 27 - Fields Glorious Fields
There’s not much to say, just look at that view!
Day 28 - Seaside Snacking
Finally the weekend, finally a day off - and my body needed to walk… and then walk some more! This hike took me to the sea, where I re-fuelled with some jam sandwiches before heading home.
Day 29 - Morchids
Even more orchids, and - extra special - a new species for me. Bee Orchids!!! I only had my phone for photos but what a glorious flower!!
They were much smaller then I expected, but they did not disappoint!
Day 30 - Into the Mist
The final day of #30DaysWild, and I can happily say that getting my daily dose of nature has now become a habit. My final act of wildness was an atmospheric, misty walk into the hills. 6 miles later and I felt all the better for it!
June was a wild month, in more than one way! I think everyone found it to be challenging on a number of levels. Like many, I've always found nature to be of great help in relieving at least some of the stress that our human world brings.
I'm relieved that despite the madness of this month, I started and kept up with the #30DaysWild challenge. In past years I've put too much pressure on it and burnt out. This year I've kept things chilled. It's honestly supported me, in ways I forgot nature could! And as a bonus, I've gotten into a really nice routine of blogging and processing my photos (a much bigger challenge than it sounds).
If you’re so lovely to have read through all or even just one of these, I thank you greatly! It’s been nice to get back into blogging and I hope to keep it up on a regular basis.
If you haven’t already, please do consider joining your local Wildlife Trust to help support our wonderful, magical natural world.
